The author of why was the F15 resurrected is not based on fact only wrongful conjecture. The F15 was put into service because of its speed and higher altitude operating parameters. Its primary mission is to interdict low orbit satellites and icbm missiles. The pilots who fly the F15 are basically astronauts. All other missions performed by the F15 during Cold War era was to justify their continued affordability during increased budget reduction acts of Congress on the Pentagon.
