Respect to Nelly but i disagree. Every artist he named, as legendary as they are, were marketed heavily across the nation by their record companies with deep pockets. In the 90s and earlier, rappers werenโt marketed like that and were limited to local radio stations and video shows and maybe BET at most, which was also a marginalized network at that time. So for a rapper or rap group to be known AND credible, their skills had to be genuinely respected and earned. Mobb Deep, Naughty, NWA, Cube, LL, BDP, Fugees, Onyx, Kool G, Digable, Rakim, EPMD, Kane, Geto Boys, BONE, Roots, 8 Balm and MJG, Twista, Boot Camp, Nas, Wuโฆ.these and many more had to compete without the mass marketing and advertising that Nelly and those he mentioned had supporting them because make no mistaken if they didโฆNelly is delusional to think they wouldnโt have also been occupying much of that space and the attention of his fans.
he still wack AF u were in that era but nobody cared only plp who like whack rap listened to him
