its too much for a child to take care of a parent with dementia alone. or a spouse. most won't be visiting everyday, if at all. but what are you supposed to do? its a horrible situation. my bf is a retired nurse. taking care of her 95 yr old mother. its a lot.

My Mom worked in a nursing home. She used to tell me what went on. I swore I'd never put her in one as long as I was able to care for her. She's 93 now and still home with me.

Look at all the family members who came out when this lady died. The family was appalled at the treatment in the nursing home but yet not a single family member could take care of Maria?

this is one of the reasons it is very rare to see Latinos in nursing homes. they keep Grandma and Grandpa at home with them until they pass very rarely will you see someone put a Latino parent or a grandparent in a nursing home.

I feel bad that happened, but all of you are crying! Did you go every day to see her? Wash her clothes give her baths ? Sit for hours with her ! I worked homes , always family stop seeing and forget to go! Things could be different if all had went more offensively!

This is absolutely sickening, abusive, inhumane, inexcusable, and scary. These ppl are absolutely TRUSTED to the biggest extent… and abuse that trust and power. Pathetic humans and they all should be locked up immediately…. As the management staff or overseers of this or these facilities. So sad and a lot of ppl clearly are NOT DOING THEIR JOB! How do these ppl sleep at night with these behaviors? Absolutely atrocious behavior and no excuse can explain this behavior. Reprimand immediately

Pay patient care workers a decent wage. You'll get cream of the crop workers. Their work is hard and they're severely short staffed.. The CEO and higher ups make the money. Sinse nursing homes have gone corporate they could care less about your loved ones. $100,000.00 a year to be neglected and abused.

Everyone wants to come out after. Do you realize what nurses and caregivers have deal with while you are ignoring the person that gave you life. They are not in their right minds and are battling with you every day, mentally and physically. Which is probably why you don’t want to deal with them. As soon as they die you shed tears and say they were mistreated. The mistreatment was on your end. 💕

caring for such fragile people is very challenging. nursing homes create a hostile work environment by having too few C.N.A.s and not providing adequate dementia training. I've worked 12 years as a C.N.A. 6 of those years on a dementia unit. I was compassionate. nursing homes are ripping people off. where does all the money go. the work was brutal and if anything wrnt south, they throw you under the bus. Administrators are heartless.

I took care of my mother until the very end. Because I know how these nursing homes do and seeing or knowing that my mother was abuse my temper would go from zero to life in prison.

What a load of crap - There's enough family standing around, why didn't she live with one of them? They're all there now, looking for a piece of the lawsuit money - Typical.

My friend of 40+ years & in a home due a severe stroke. Very nice home. But they ever abuse her in that home I gaurantee you that person will be met outside when they get off work & when I’m done with them they’ll need a nursing facility themselves!!

Do people really know what goes on in a patient with dementia they fight you they beat you up you can't control them before people question and comment let them take care of their own family I bet they wouldn't do it they put them in nursing homes because they can't and don't want the fatigue I am not saying people should be abused but go do that job and see how these people act.

It takes special people to work in healthcare, namely with the elderly and disabled. This click looks more like the person is trying to remove the elders hands, to prevent from being hit,not abuse. My opinion,to which I'm entitled not asking anyone to agree. If someone sees something different, you're entitled to your opinion. I two have worked in nursing homes, some elders are beyond mean, not condoning abuse, not condoning aides and or nurses being hurt either.

She was my Mom !!

My mom had Alzheimer’s and my older sister and her husband took care of her during the week and my younger sister and I took over on the weekends. It was hard because I was single with no children but my 2 younger sisters had children. My youngest sister and her son didn’t help at all but the 3 of us did until we couldn’t. I have a disability but I did as much as I could until I couldn’t. My older sister had to place mom in assisted care when she became combative just like this older woman. My heart goes out to this family but there is a time when it becomes too difficult to keep her at home unless you have wealth and can provide 24 hour care a week. Fighting, sleep deprived, wandering around and forgetting how to toilet, bathe, swallow or even breathe happens and it hurts to see your loved one this way but you persevere until you can’t any longer. Praying helps but what is inevitable will happen but it does prepare us somewhat. May she rest in peace.

this s*** that people put on here for views or likes or whatever and what it look like was that the nurse was trying to restrain the lady so she wouldn't attack her

These scenes are disconnected from one another- and paramedics are for medical transport only. That these circumstances exist is without argument, but the content is very amateurish.

Many people with dementia are very combative, they bite, curse you out, and smear feces every where. Yes, it's sad that this family paid $100K to a hospital care facility to take care of their loved one with dementia. FYI: Don't waste your money... save your money... take care of your own family when they have dementia... go on social media and join a dementia group who can help you, teach you how to care for a family member with dementia.

So sorry. I found this to be all to true. They treated my dad and mom at different nursing homes like this. They put bruises all over my 85 pound mom and abused her on front of me. The other home drugged my legless dad while on the toliet whikw he fell off because he was drugged then didnt get him to the hospital. He had a broken hip, broken ribs, gash on hos head needing stiches. I came to see them daily. I had to intervene. But, thr damage was done. This was in Akron, Ohio
