I understand the concept but they do make things that work a whole lot better to ground yourself if you’re doing component work.
Your body is mostly insulated by your shoes. Even if your sole is rubber or plastic, electricity or static doesn’t flow well through it. If you just hooked a wire to the bottom of your shoe, most of the charge would stay trapped inside your body. By putting a metal band directly on your skin (around your ankle), you create a direct electrical path from your body to the wire. When working with electronics, especially sensitive stuff like computer chips, circuit boards, or any semiconductor components, static electricity can destroy them instantly. Even a tiny zap from your body—too small to feel—can fry a microchip. By grounding yourself with that ankle wire and metal band, you’re making sure any static charge on your body flows safely to the ground instead of jumping into the electronics. It’s called an ESD precaution (ElectroStatic Discharge).

The belief is that people who go barefooted are healthier because of grounding. The theory is that the body dissipates excess electrical energy from the body. Some people report decreased inflammation and better sleep through grounding or earthing. Scientific support is weak.

My daughter's mother never wore shoes,always barefoot even on gravel and hot asphalt, she said it didn't hurt at all,she was dead at 31 years old,so I wouldn't say it really helps that much,jus saying,not AI ,completely true,she's in an ern downstairs on the floor in the living room so guess she's permanently grounded so good luck with your wire in your shoe...🙏

Grounding is only beneficial when going barefoot to Earth. Like dirt, sand, grass etc... Walking barefoot on concrete is just asking for trouble, and all you're going to do is pick up germs and bad energy. If you feel you need grounding, take the time for yourself to do so, quietly, sitting in the sun, bare feet to earth, just being still. That is where the benefits are. But as far as a lie detector test idk, I'm brutally honest and don't have to worry about that so I have no idea about any of that 😆 I live my truths, and grounding helps me do that 😆🤷

Investigate what it means to be grounded. You may just be advertising your inability to understand the properties of the thing you are actually trying to do. What you stand on has a lot to do with the effectiveness of grounding.
