lol at the oven mitts. Some cats really hate it. Mine sleep in and on top of theirs, but it鈥檚 one of those soft ones with the mesh. And yes, I use that one for the vet.
My Molly is part Maine Coon. She doesn鈥檛 weigh so much, about 10 lb, but she is long. She hates her carrier. It鈥檚 mesh. I have to get the carrier and put it on end in the bathroom and leave the end open. I then have to get her and pick her up and put her in back feet first and then lower her in, grab the zipper flap and get it closed. Then I put the whole thing into my wagon to get it out to my car to go to the Vet. I鈥檓 85 and just don鈥檛 have the strength I once had or the speed. After we get back home I am ready for a nap. She is always good once we get there, but she will fuss at me all the way. She is usually quiet on the way home.
Put in gently not drop and hurt. They always remember when your hurt and scare them

I have a pair & put the male in 1st because he is so gentle & then the female last & she fights me every time! I saw a carrier that is supposedly better one for cats, but I can鈥檛 find it; probably went out of business. Both cats in one carrier, I have to cradle the carrier because of the weight load of 19 lbs; the handle fell of the 1st time I picked them both up. In California, I had a great mobile vet, which made all vet visits much less stressful for all of us.

Omg what are you doing? Dropping the cat in the carrier? Maybe if you weren鈥檛 so rough dropping her/him he would be difficult to get in its carrier ! I have 6 cats.. never have I had to go to such extreme ! Poor kitty!
No wonder can鈥檛 put cat in carrier. Pretty traumatic and rough on the cat. Not very amusing either.
I put my carrier in the garage with a beach towel partially in the carrier and the rest tucked around the opening and cover the wire door too. I put them in and they don鈥檛 have anything to grab onto except the towel. Mission accomplished!! Works every time!!馃憤馃徏

I suggest you get a different carrier, you just traumatized your cat! A pillowcase leaving his head out so he can see is much better for your little friend! 馃檹馃徏
You just have to pet them and ask nicely so they don鈥檛 think it鈥檚 something bad.
