Denzel is part of the establishment. He has to remain neutral to keep his job. A pregnant woman can share her experiences with other pregnant women. A woman who has never been pregnant cannot tell pregnant women how she feels because she has never been pregnant. Color, in this instance, has no standing because pregnancy is universal among women. You have to live the experience of having a hot comb burn your hair; white women don’t have to use a burning comb to straighten their hair. Not because of culture; it is that they are white, and their hair structure does not need a hot comb to make it straight because it is already straight. Trust me, audience, Denzel is nothing more than a highly paid actor; that is it. Don’t look to him as authoritarian. He sounds so ignorant.
