That sucks for them because they are going to pass new laws for fishing because science found that hooking the fish's lip actually causes excruciating pain....their neurotransmitters lit up like ours would if hooked in the lip as well. Their pain isn't processed like ours is because our brains are more complex but in the head and lips especially, their pain response is the same as mammals and have high sensitivity density in the head and lips. they experience pain for around 22 mins when taken out of water before losing consciousness and they have also been noted to avoid places they have felt pain so they have a memory of the event which means they are very conscious of pain....so they probably feel this torture poor things :(
It’s not “discovered” but it’s BUILT. We used to build things in America! Don’t worry about the fish. The water is temperature regulated and aerated to keep the fish alive until it reaches its destination. The way some of you are, they should do that with you before you travel.
