Years ago, I did the same thing.I knew a little of excel, but not at the level that the manager was asking for.I got the job, went straight to the bookstore and bought "excel for dummies". That book became my bible.Years later, I ended up tutoring senior citizens in excel and other Microsoft office software.

I "over represented" my drywall finishing skills. I'm a good hanger. Job boss called me out on it. I asked if he was sending me home? "No, I need you now." Every time he wanted to bitch me out for something he just sighed and said, "No I need you now." I worked a couple years for him.

This is how you treat people!
Sad thing is that every person I've hired has lied about their Excel abilities. So I end up doing all their work for a year and then having to spend a ton of time doing indepth reviews of their sheets. I just wish people wouldn't lie and would actually LEARN!
