Years ago, I did the same thing.I knew a little of excel, but not at the level that the manager was asking for.I got the job, went straight to the bookstore and bought "excel for dummies". That book became my bible.Years later, I ended up tutoring senior citizens in excel and other Microsoft office software.

Fortunately, I worked for a county government office where they offered classes to upgrade your skills to help you advance in that department. I was able to take Microsoft Word and Excel classes, this was in the early 2000s.😃💻🖨

yes, she did tell that lie about knowing excel and was afraid that they wouldn't keep her, but they were so nice and brought a very nice "cheat sheet" with many of the things she needs to for that job on computer and will learn it. That was an employer showing how to treat their employees even if there was something irregular, etc with them. 😲🤔👍💕🌸

My friend was fired for "lying" on her application and tge company pressed misdemeanor charges on her. she had been looking for work daily for over a year. same story, different outcome when the Humans have melanin in their skin. 🇦🇬✊🏾🇵🇷
