10 years probation is a trap..... if he makes one mistake they'll put him away for 6 years, and that 3 year sentence means spending about 8 months inside.

he should of took the 3 years would be free in 1 and a half years. now he got 10 years of looking over his shoulder and in 8 or 9 years they could finally send him to do that 6 years of time still over his head if he messes up on probation and he goes back. not going to prison sounds good. but he might end up going anyways, with more time and having to do however much probation on top of it.

10 years probation is basically giving yourself 6 years in prison eventually instead of 3 now. No way this guy wont drink or do any type of drugs and stay out of trouble for 10 years.

10 years probation is no joke. He makes a mistake within those 10 years he will go into prison for 6 years. This is a setup, most people don't make the terms of the probation. should have taken the 3 years studied while in there get a GED. Either way he will end up in prison. make it a positive.

this is how someone with a sh_t load of arrest stabs someone on a train. There should be a mandate of mandatory time, zero dismissal after like your second or third offense. Or the judge or county or state or all three should be held liable for ANY HARM this person brings upon another with a minimum of 1million dollars awarded.
I don’t know why people are bashing the judge for, people deserve a second chance in life. Why you guys want him to go prison for 6 years for, when the young man can go out there and change his life?
