She collected them all her life , hope the kids appreciate them. Sad that at the end of our life it’s like idk nothing to some one else.
I am older and that is why I am starting to give all that stuff away now. I don't want to stick my kids with cleaning out my "collections" after I die. My kids don't want this kind of stuff anyway. I kept things because these would remind me of Grandma, but that is not how young people think these days.
My GGM collected them too. Her 7 sons, all US Navy, would give them as gifts after deployments. When she passed away, They were divided up and given to the sons, grands & great grands. I was young, but I knew her. The set I was given, is 2 glass strawberries that hang from a "T" shaped stand. I recently found out, that they are uranium glass.
Are they all salt and pepper shakers? I know alot of Amish ladies that collect them!!! That's money there!!!
Soooo glad I'm not a collector of anything
I’m 71 and now trying to get rid of things.
I've already made the family announcement. If its not cash, property, bonds or can't fit in the casket with you, it's goin in the dumps. My mom said she's gonna find a way to put a restraining order on me, even in her death...
OMG, I am 72 yrs old and if I have to dust it, I don't want it . I did and had all that when I was younger and had the energy now I want to be free.😲
My kids are 49 in 45.I asked them if they want anything in the house. And they said toss it. the Kids nowadays don't want any of our stuff , and I can understand that.
My husband collected Coca Cola for over 25 years. He passed 10 years ago on Valentines Day at 54yoa...I just can't part with it..I often find myself looking through marketplace and other sale sites and WISHING he was still here@@@#@@ The thrills he had finding and obtaining unique items..I loved him from 1982 to 2016..Guess I'm a hoarder???🙏🙏🙏
Donate anything like this that family doesn't want to help the Humane Society or Counsel on Aging. We have many antiques that are worth a lot of money. I will not be giving anything to anyone who has the gaul to insult me or my husband. Nor will I be leaving anything to those in our family who will turn around & put the money into trashy nonsense. We love our dogs. I am so very sorry we never had children. However, our special herd of dogs own our hearts. If I need to do so, I will donate everything, including our house & property to a place or individual that will take care of them for their natural lives. We adopted both my late Grandmother's old cat & my Mother in law's beloved little dog. Families are supposed to do right by one another.
My son will cuss me when I’m gone😂😂😂😂
My daughter would get the biggest trash bag she could handle and put in the trash. Not even donate, I dont think. She doesnt want anything of mine. She's gonna get a roll off container and pitch everything.
My godmother & her sister neither ever had any children of their own, but many godchildren, nieces & nephews. They were incredibly kind, sweet & generous little ladies---one collected salt & pepper shakers & the other collected tea cups. They had so, so many--I'm sure they were gifted most of them, being they were "easy" presents to give them (I, myself, was guilty of at least 50 of them...) They had them displayed all throughout their spotless homes & were always kept polished & dusted. As a child, I would just gaze at them, full of admiration for their beautiful, vast collections. Sometimes, they would give me one to take home for my very own & it would make me feel so special. You can only imagine how many they acquired being they both lived well into their 90's. You know, idk whatever became of all those cups & S&P shakers....it's been so very long ago. Thank you for stirring up a few very old, very warm childhood memories. 🥰🙏💕
I am not older but have spent the entire first half of my forties, fighting breast cancer. I'm terminal. So I'm giving away and getting rid of my stuff now, so that noone has to go through it once I pass.
I collect salt & pepper shakers. would love to have them. Beautiful collection.
Time to make some money!💰💰
I’d check inside every set before I disposed of it! My late MIL hid multiple $20 bills throughout the hundreds of books she had! Over $7K!
as someone who works with the elderly who are hoarders let me tell you 98% of this stuff isn't worth anything! even if it has value it can be difficult to sell! just get rid of it!
My great-grandmother collected salt and pepper shakers, and I don't think it was truly appreciated until she gone. 💕
sale them to another collecter
Get in touch with the show on the HGTV, called Junk or Jackpot. The Salt and Pepper sets and dishes, etc. here maybe worth a lot of money. Those types of items can be very collectable and valuable...just saying. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
I'm not foolish.I know when I'm gone most of my things will be donated That's ok.I enjoyed them while I was here and no one ever. made fun of me
I took care of an elder brain damaged father. So never married nor did.I have children. Everything I have now accumulated were carefully procured and earmarked for the very special people in my life did I call friends, unbeknownst to any of them. 👍🥰
I moved from a 3,000 square foot 3 bedroom home to a 600 square foot one bedroom apartment! I helped several family members furnish their apartments with almost new furniture as well as other nice pieces! Every year I go thru stuff and if I have not used it in a year or even looked at it, out the door it goes! Family has first dibs then it goes to Goodwill to find a new home! I also sent my collectibles to my kids! I did and do this so my family does not have to be burdened and while I still could take care of it myself! I am 78 now! Keeping all that stuff makes it too hard to get around, you cannot keep things clean!
Grandma could be a crack head but she only hoards figurines 🤷🏽♀️Lighten up and concentrate on what you don’t have vs. What Granny got.
Stop playing grandma knows what was doing some of those things are really old and they are valuable… put that in the trash, you will make somebody trash their treasure
She probably got a lot of them from family who didn’t know what to give her for Christmas and birthdays!!!
my grandmother did the same with wine and champagne flute got me started we have over 8,000 of them and I love them and her🥰🥰🥰
Dayum, that stuff is dated, vintage and probably antique and looks like a dang gold mine
ebay, etsy (vintage) NOT TO GOODWILL!
I’ll bet on every gift giving occasion, EVERY relative gave her salt and pepper shakers as a gift and she couldn’t throw them away. Did anyone ever think of something else she might’ve liked? That would take some thought.
My mother in law told in 2022 that we spend the first half of our lives collecting and buying and the second half getting rid of it. She is so right.
I think it’s a shame that you video & put it on the internet!!! I wish she’d video your mess. Thanks for helping her, but STOP exposing her collection to the public!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would feel blessed to know someone thought of me enough to leave me something they collected and ment so much to them 💕🙏🏼
It sounded like one of the women said, “Hi Fran—Would you care to bring me the trash can?” (My goodness! I hope they weren’t just videoing it, just so they had proof of all of the “stuff” before they put it in the trash can!!!)
I bet some of those are worth a Cpl dollars!!!
my oldest granddaughter has put a claim on my 1898 cabinet with a bunch of Disney stuff on it and a few old glass items from my mom and a old sawdust like teddy bear that was my grandmas
That's a lot of years of knick knack collecting 💕
Sad. She collected them with love and now they will throw them away.
The most ridiculous part of this video is that person running the vacuum.
Treasures, every last one of them! Find good homes for them with people that will love them like she did. God Bless! Loved this!
sadly our things end up in a dumpster or goodwill. I haven't bought anything in years.
where's the food supposed to go?
🥰🥰🥰🥰🙏
lol that is the most impressive collection of salt and pepper shakers that has ever existed! no one needs more than three sets, just in case the main one breaks lol and then having a back up for the holiday festivities and all, but man! props to her! freaking amazing!!!! 💕
some of them don't know the value of some of those things. some are worth a fortune. all they see is junk. some of those were her prized possessions. handing down some things to the next couple of generations. worthless to them!!!! some of the things I see are priceless.
Donate to woman's shelter... I can think of alot of people who are getting out of abuse who would love a free 🧂 Shaker set for their new apartment 🤔 🌸
that looks like everyone's Grandmas house lol that's what they did......
Would love to go through it!!
Wow!!
Some of them are worth big money Look on line 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Some of those are worth a lot of money
I love it! My mawmaw had that same china.
my mom use to collect them also
Wow could donate…
I have beautiful crystal and Lenox my daughters are ok well see later ma dont worry. its only one big box mostly from my mom. Im sure my eldest will give to people I l9ve she knows.
My sister passed...everyone was to take a cherished teddy that she had collected over the years...there were a few leftovers...so everyone who wanted one to remember her by got one.🥰
garage sale time
Garage sale is on!
my sister would put it all in a dumpster
I wish the vacuum had been turned off.
I’ll bet just about anything Grannny was familiar with the Great Depression. My mom and Gran did the same thing.
Holy smokes. I collected them too but stopped when I was in my 30s cuz yea, I seen it was just gonna sitting and draw dust. they've been in boxes for over 35 yrs now. I wonder if they are worth much now. I bought them all at antique stores in the 80s and 90s. they are fun to look at so enjoy granny's stuff cuz ya know she loved that stuff. 🥰🥰🥰
No one feels like you do about your “collections.” None of my children want my China or silver. So??
mmmm, when trauma isn't dealt with?
