you want to use graphite powder. ground up pencil lead. you can buy it in most stores and Amazon sells it. I got mine there because we couldn't turn the key for anything. I put a little bit in and it fixed it. it won't cause moisture to freeze your lock either. what they are doing will probably do more harm than good. it's only a couple bucks on Amazon.

spray silicone does good without collecting dust and dirt. I've used it on all the sliding doors and sliding windows tracks, and on noisy door hinges house and vehicles also.
