In the late '80s my Dad was scrubbing the dining room carpet. He had one dark spot that would not go away. He spot treated, waited & came back. He tried different solutions. No good, spot still there. He was at it for hours & hours, convinced himself the dark spot was getting lighter. Finally one of my little sisters walked in and said, "Hey, Dad, I can make that spot go away." "How?" he asked, "I've tried everything." Little sister said, "Did you try this?" and she reached up and moved the string on the ceiling fan. The dark spot moved with it. "Awww, son of a bitch. . ." from my Dad. The rest of us just laughed.
