I work under my cars a lot. Oil changes, strut replace, radiator replace, running wires, exhaust.....always with jack stands on level concrete.
People disrespect police left and right, but something goes wrong and the first person they call is a police officer! Figure?
I always use jack stands, but I also put 4x4" under the frame just in case it comes of the jack stands. No such thing as too safe when working under a car.

My brother in law was working under his Vega as a teen when it came off jackstands and landed on him. Me and another guy just happened to be standing there and were able to lift car off him

Thank God they were there to save him. I witnessed a neighbor down the street from me around 25 years ago die from having the jack fail and it crushed him to death. It was a newly married couple that had just moved into their house and I will never forget her screaming for help. It was too late by the time me and a couple of other neighbors tried to help. He died instantly. Be careful out there people.

People like this are the reason we have to have additional safety features on every piece of equipment. Can't mow in reverse or lift your butt out of the seat? This guy. Your car tells you that your wandering out of your lane? This guy. I think Darwin was right.
