He only prophesied to Abraham how God would grow a nation of Abrahams' decendants in Egypt, that the pharoh would abuse them but that God would bring that nation out of Egypt to conquer the land of Palestine. He made no similar promise to anyone else. Why did God do this? To make God's name great in the land and so that Israel would proclaim His name. I would love to say that slavery is wrong, but scripture doesn't ban it. However Paul argued that in Christ, "there is neither slave nor free" and instructed another to accept his returning slave, Onesimus, "no longer as a slave, but better than a slave, as a dear brother". Because how can one Son of God make a slave of another Son of God?

For the most part Europe did not have slaves, being all one in Christ prevented. The British had legal slaves for maybe 100 years, but then banned it in England and then the entire Empire. The Christain West was the only culture to ban slavery. There were Serfs.
