The video clearly shows her backing up and then moving forward in a way that does not look like an intentional attack. She pulls back first and then turns her wheels away from the agent standing in front. Officials are calling this ‘self-defense’ by claiming she weaponized her vehicle, but the footage does not show her lunging at him or trying to run him over on purpose. It shows a woman trying to leave the situation. Use-of-force policy does not allow an officer to step in front of a vehicle and then use lethal force simply because the driver is attempting to drive away. That is not de-escalation. It is creating the danger and then responding with deadly force. If she truly intended to kill him, she had multiple clear opportunities to do so. She did not. Shooting her in the face under these circumstances is not self-defense. The video contradicts that claim, plain and simple.
