X4. Tip is to recognize excellent service. The minute you tell me that you’re expecting a 40% tip for probably doing the bare minimum, you’ve decided you’ll receive nothing from me.

My response is if you want more than $20 tip on a $100 bill, you should get a better job.

Restaurants should pay their employees a livable salary. I don't have to tip the cashier at the grocery store, mailman, etc

If the person at the next table, which this waitress would also be serving, ordered a burger and a glass of water, and her bill was 10$ and she left a 2$ tip,the waitress wouldn’t be angry. She is going by the price of the meal, not the time spent serving, which would be the same as the burger patron.

OK, how, did this tipping thing become an obligation and bad etiquette if you choose not to tip. First of all, who decided that only food servers, and drivers were the only workers deserving of tips? If that's the case anyone working in customer service should get tips. my experience as cashier, floor sales person and bank teller, was equally tiring, both mentally and physically and I was dead ass broke because the hourly pay was BS. I dealt with just as much pressure as they do, no body gave me a damn tip. we weren't ALLOWED to accept tips. why, I have no idea. it's the same job. I was on my feet for hours. I work all shifts, weekends, holiday's, and I dealt with people and their bullshit. tell me what's different? I decide if I want to tip, and how much. shit we're all struggling. how do u think you deserve extra money on top of your check for doing your job?

it's funny how poor people demand money but won't do the work required to get it and then they complain and blame every one else but themselves . I stopped eating pizza because of this tip culture I'd rather give Walmart money for a frozen pizza then pay papajohns employees their wages .

I did 20%. Now there is now federal tax on tips. Waiters, waitresses, and others on the low end are in 12% bracket. So, now I tip 8% since they are saving 12% 🤷🏽‍♀️🇺🇸😍

tips, are stealing, it's ok if you want to give your server, extra money, but it should not be mandatory, if you try and force people, to pay extra money, that is stealing.

Servers make enough in California just on salaries alone. It’s a mindless job. $16.90 an hour is enough. It’s not my requirement to pay any portion of their salary. If they need more money, work some overtime, like the rest of us.

avator

Let's break that down by the hour. Mmm let's say you spend in actual time 15 minutes serving a table. That would equal $153.28 an hour. Im talking actual time waiting on the table NOT how long the customer is at the restaurant.🤔

ok, I voted to raise minimum wage. I want everyone to have a place to live, food for you and the family, health care. I live with my daughter on social security, have cancer ,sold my house to pay for things I need. one joy I have is going out to eat. with the price of food this is a treat for me once a week. to tip you your request is adding another person to the table. Beware a tip is a gift not an obligation. be well.
