ours does that in the basement not directly into tube just the drain pipes are together.
I did this with a mini washer that had a screw on hose to the shower diverter

I've seen higher end residential buildings where the washer and utility sink in the basement drain directly into the sump pump pit.
Functional...
if you have a place that wasnt equipped for a washer and dryer, this isnt a bad idea. small inconvenience compared to having to haul all your laundry back and forth to a laundromat and having to stay stocked in quarters.
Long as I ain't got to drag all that to the laundry mat..Whirlpool baby馃挄
