That's not what he was tossed for..
They are real good friends and former teammates that hung together all the time. The ref thought they were serious.
He should still be able to appeal that technical and get his money,.. they do get fined for that. 🤔
For those who can actually 'THINK' that was a great call by the ref, because they are Supposed to call what they SEE. He obviously didn't see the slap from Vince Carter that started the altercation. But.. if a player tells a ref that they were hit first, then a simple instant replay would've solved the whole situation.🤔
I saw that game. They were playing with each other, but the ref didn't see the whole exchange so it looked like he just arbitrarily hit Vince in the face. The refs were too prideful to re wrse the call.

They were not using video replay so the referee only saw the second guy reach out to playfully return the gesture. If I’m not mistaken V. Carter paid his fine from the league and apologized. They were friends or former teammates. Sometimes refs can over referee games this was a case of reaction in the blind. The ref was trying to nip the problem in the bud, not knowing the context.
