Growing up we always got the RED POPPY just as they still do for Memorial Day. But I wish the poppies would come back. We all got ours at school so all children could have one and adults could get at any store, hardware shop, beauty shoppe. All over. You could also donate to the memorial fund. It was a special day and those poppies told a story about what they meant. Any remember what the poppies stood for ? But we understood it was a respectable day and meaning. And the sacrifices that were made. By so very many. This was after WW II. THE ATOMIC BOMB. But we still need to honor our service personnel and all who answer the call for help now. God bless us all. Amen.

The poppies are why I don't shop TARGET. They wouldn't allow our Veterans to sell the poppies out in front of TARGET!!!!? SO I NEVER SET FOOT INSIDE THAT STORE AGAIN 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

"In Flanders fields the poppies grow/ Among the headstones row on row"...etc. Poppys are symbols of forgetfulness, while Rosemary is the symbol of memory & pansies are the symbols of thoughts. I have always thought that the American citizen soldier should be honored most especially by paying no taxes as they have already spilt their blood, sweat & tears for this country. The best this country can do, is offer life long medical treatment for injuries obtained while serving for the service member & their immediate family. The poem quoted above was half finished when the man who wrote it died & was meant to remind men to give up and forget war as a solution to conflict between countries. For it kills & maims more whole soldiers lives than it saves. That is the nature of war.

He looks like he might be a Milatary Chaplain. That was a very nice thing he did for that man. I’m 63 and just learned about the poppy tradition a few years ago. 💕

Retired combat veteran that served 30 years and I want everyone to know the VFW still hands out poppy's on Memorial day and Veterans day. Some of the VFWs have them available year round. These are from men and women that actually served in combat.🙏
