That is bad idea it removes the fire rating of the drywall .
When I used to hang drywall we would use 3/8 board or wet 1/2 inch to 5/8 and bend them to the shape of the ceiling
cut a slice on tha back ov shee rock an press firmly without breaking but tha bedda designed
You can make drywall bend to match any desired radius by letting it sag over forms. Introducing moisture to the board will speed up the process.
