How about you leave them alone because if you’re wrong, this level of questioning is inappropriate

Is it common to carry your military ID with you 40 years later?

My dad, a Vietnam vet, won't step foot in a VA who was the sole survivor of the men in his family who fought. He has no military ID. That doesn't make him less of a vet. I'm also a street outreach worker & you're totally disconnected from the reality of many homeless vets. Do some damn real research before you start attacking potential vets.

One of the easiest ways to tell they're fake is just ask them what their MOS was. They ALL mess that one up.

No one has a military ID just because they are a veteran. If you retired die to time on or were medically retired then you have a military ID and you do keep it on your person just like your driver's license.

u turn it in when u are honorably discharged. u don't get to keep you military id unless u retire and it changes to a retired id type.

when they said from Florida, that made it obviously a lie, why would anybody move to washington from Florida unless they were running from something

"the military not helping you at all?" "no not right now.." sad truth is... once vets get back on US soil, and their term is over - Uncle Sam conveniently forgets about them.

A military person will tell you the years served, rank and location. They are proud and don't pull up random information.

No paratrooper would put the 82nd patch over the American flag active or released from service vet. I don’t believe these two are not veterans.

When a individual standing on a street corner wearing piece or parts of a military uniform holding up a sign stating " DISABLED VETERAN NEEDS HELP. ANY AMOUNT OF $$ WILL DEEPLY BE APPRECIATED " GOD BLESS " I will call them out by asking them if they are a disabled veteran??? Do they have a Government issued ID card from the Department of Veteran Affairs?? A ID card that states in print under their picture they have a service connected disability. If not! I give them a verbal dress down.

They are more common than you think. Many have their favorite freeway off ramps to solicit and none are near a VA facility.

Every vet knows when you get out of the service, you don't wear half a uniform with your rank and name and branch on it .

I’m a disabled veteran. I have my va card and copies of my DD-214 on my phone, actually 5 DD-214. One from the Coast Guard, 2 from the Army, 2 from the Navy.
