Is it common to carry your military ID with you 40 years later?

"the military not helping you at all?" "no not right now.." sad truth is... once vets get back on US soil, and their term is over - Uncle Sam conveniently forgets about them.

One of the easiest ways to tell they're fake is just ask them what their MOS was. They ALL mess that one up.

A military person will tell you the years served, rank and location. They are proud and don't pull up random information.

No one has a military ID just because they are a veteran. If you retired die to time on or were medically retired then you have a military ID and you do keep it on your person just like your driver's license.

“ that’s federal law”. My guy, that’s not a law anywhere for starters. They probably aren’t real vets. But if you can’t prove it then don’t be a Karen.

When a individual standing on a street corner wearing piece or parts of a military uniform holding up a sign stating " DISABLED VETERAN NEEDS HELP. ANY AMOUNT OF $$ WILL DEEPLY BE APPRECIATED " GOD BLESS " I will call them out by asking them if they are a disabled veteran??? Do they have a Government issued ID card from the Department of Veteran Affairs?? A ID card that states in print under their picture they have a service connected disability. If not! I give them a verbal dress down.

Unless you served 20 years you won't have a military ID. You can get a special one for medical care as a vet

No paratrooper would put the 82nd patch over the American flag active or released from service vet. I don’t believe these two are not veterans.

I don’t have an army identification I served back in the 1990s I have my certificates from basic training and AIT certification. (82c) I am disabled but I was disabled after my service. It depends on if to claim anything in benefits. I am a 3 rd generation Army . My grandfather war 2 he never had his identification . My dad served in the army he didn’t keep any of his military stuff. He felt guilty for he’s service during Veitnam. He got his draft papers and enlisted the same day. He watch Pual Nelson come home from Veitnam in a bubble top coffin. They make it difficult to claim Those benefits. My buddy was blowing up Iraq 2006 IED and shot by the enemy and friendly troops . He has to fight for everything he earned . They make it difficult so people quit trying to get those benefits!

my dad is a marine veteran and they forged his name on government documents, signing away 90% of his disability after breaking his back while in active service. He was getting only like 100 bucks a month and couldn't work. we grew up extremely poor. if this was a thing back in the early 80s, mid 90s, he might have been on the side of the road holding a sign, too. it took him 22 years to prove they forged it, but he finally won. they screw vets left and right, all the time. dont assume the government is there to help you. they're not.

just for the record I know a lot of veterans that lost all their cards and lost everything they had because they were homeless and had nowhere to go that's what the government did to them
