Well they got retribution, Custers last stand, where the Indians slaughtered every soldier on the field. And butchered them. Cut off fingers, scalped them ,and other disgusting vile things. Both sides did terrible things to each other. I'm sure the wives, and children of those soldiers didn't forget either. It was terrible, but why do you expect people now to apologizes. We weren't there. All we can do is learn from history ,and not repeat.
It was a cruel time on both sides, mostly a cultural total melt down where both had such different ways of living. Couldn't try to understand each other, and live and let live. But judging either side now does not help it either. We now have more understanding of both cultures and only our willing ness to keep striving for learning and communication can help heal that travesty. May the Great Spirit, God almighty help heal the divide.
