Social Security is not about entitlement. It’s your money you pay and the government uses it until they have to give it back when you retire without any paying interest or anything on it so that’s where the entitlement come from. They think it’s their money until they have to give it back to us.

I can't get disability for the same reason. I used to be an artist for WB, but my eyes went bad from a genetic condition. It's not an entitlement. 🌸

in the 60s S S became taxable. in 70s it was put into general fund and became tax burden. in 80s thru gave it to seniors who never donated . recently they're giving it to municipal workers without donations. I'm retired 5 years . I've been taxed about 180k which should be half a million by now .Easily paying 50k tax free but.......
But the kicker is, while we pay into Social Security, Congress has treated it like THEIR PERSONAL PIGGY BANK, FOR ANYTHING THEY WANTED TO FUND. That's theft from insiders and it should be illegal.

The Republican want to go private even wanted to go to the stock market with it so that the rich can get rich and when the stock go down, guess what you don’t get a text that month and if you do get a check, it’s not really a check it’s more like a gift card so when I say Social Security is in problems that’s a lot because think about it if a person works and they get 55 years old and they started working at the age of 18 they pay taxes and they unfortunately died before drawing their Social Security and let’s say they don’t have any dependence they want to receive their Social Security so that person that paid from the age of 18 years old to 55 years old all that money is given to the government and this is done every day people work they’re not able to draw it or if you marry another person, two people can’t draw Social Security checks

Yes it is a pay as you go system. You pay into it while you are young and working. Then you receive as you go out of the system otherwise when you stop working at the age designated by the government. What sucks is the government has given SS to people from other countries who have never paid into the system. They get doctors to say their child has asthma or some other illness and poof they get SSDI and aid for dependent children and Medicaid!!! It is not right. Then those of us with major medical issues like disc degenerative diseases, onset of Alzheimer’s, 2 strokes, depression with suicidal tendencies we get nothing we get denied!!! My appointment with the doctor to see if I qualify for disability was walk this line, arms forward, reach above your head, squeeze my 2 fingers. That was it!!! Nothing about the pain, disc degenerative disease, depression, my 2 strokes!! But if I walk across he boarder illegally I am given everything!!! Plus food stamps!!!

Some are not allowed to collect it only if they have had 40 quarters, otherwise one loses all their SS money paid in over the years. Texas Teachers lost all claim to Social Security due to having a retirement program with the teaching f I ends. That way changed by Congress 2 years ago. But those of us with 32 to 39 quarters forfeit our SS wages collected, still!🌸💕
