I'm 64 w a head injury, all I want is to be left alone these days. I say "hello" & smile no conversation ever. I shouldn't feel bad for feeling this way.
I love people, but my health has been so bad in recent years, it’s very difficult for me to talk or eat, so I try to avoid long conversations & meals with folks. I appreciate their concern & friendliness but Anything beyond exchanging pleasantries is very taxing for me.

I run into this a lot now that I have retired and downsized to an apartment. EVERYBODY wants to be my buddy and talk to me, especially when outside with my dog in the designated pooping area. I just want to be able to bring my dog out, have him do his business without distractions so I can get back to my life. I finally realized you really do have to be direct and firm with these people or they'll never leave you alone. I also carry mace, a blackjack, a knife and a gun to deal with the crazies that insist on pushing it.

A couple from a religious group visited me and my family about 7 times. Every time i was smiling and nice. Small talk and religious talk, pamphlet passing was enjoyed by all. At about visit #8, I told them everthing they didnt want to hear.

We know our neighbors and they know us. Been on cross-country fishing trips together, but we also know how to tend to our business otherwise. If we see something we can help with we do/they do and have. But we may go a couple of weeks without talking too if we don't have anything to say. Some retired, some not and life in the country is great! Don't be that busybody!

We have lived in the same house for 25 years. It was a new development when we moved here. Most were just starting families or had very young children. We trust each other with everything. We have shared so much and our children have grown up together. I could not imagine not having them.
