if you want to know where the idea of twinkling lights on a tree came from here it is

They do this every year. Believe it or not different people believe different things, they have different traditions etc.. Coca cola made santa Claus, Germany has krumpus, Italy has a christmas witch etc... Lighting candles on a tree represents different things, mostly stars with the north star being on top. This is where christmas lights were invented, a safer way than candles but this is where it comes from. People don't even know why they do the things they do, they just do it because their parents did... Why do you leave out Christmas cookies for Santa? Why do you give gifts? You should learn how other people celebrate different things and why. It's actually very interesting.

Want to know how they did that. I’m 70. Mom used to have real candles on the tree waaay past when electric lights were all that others were using. But never saw them lit this way. Pretty sure WE would have been lit if we’d tried this method.

everyone used to use small candles on the Christmas trees. the candle had a metal piece like cup under it. but it became dangerous and light were used.
