why do school districts keep intentionally making buss stops on multi lane roads when the bus can easily turn off the road to pick the children up? why out the kids at risk? why put the public in that type of situation?

on a 4-5 Lane road the traffic in the opposite direction does not have to stop. kids are not permitted to cross the road

I have actually gotten one of those tickets, I was not paying attention! But I was lucky to have gotten a kind motorcycle officer who let me go even though my license was suspended!

Stop signs mean STOP! Especially on a School Bus!!! Thank you for posting this! A child was killed here in Cumberland Wi about 26 years ago. It was on a 2 lane road but the inebriated driver did not stop & went around the bus on the shoulder of the road! Sadly the boy's older sister was just a few steps ahead of her brother. She was not hit but she witnessed her brother's death. The guy who hit him was caught. Thank you to the Police for looking out for children!🌸

On two-lane roads, traffic in both directions must stop. On three-or-more-lane roads, or divided highways, only traffic moving in the same direction as the bus must stop. quote the law

People forget that not all states have the same laws when stopping for school busses with their lights flashing and their stop sign out. It's best if you're driving in a state where you're not used to driving, learn their laws, or you can wait, and you'll be stopped and ticketed for it. You'll learn either way, your choice.

in Oregon, if it's a 4 lane road with a median lane and solid lined stripes, the opposing traffic is not required to stop. Children are not allowed to walk across a 5 lane road without an adult.

The kids never have to walk across and over a 4 lane divided Hi way to get to the other side of the roadway. That appears to be a 4 lane highway.

In NC if there is 2 lanes in both directions and there is a turn lane or a median then only the traffic going in the same direction as the bus has to stop. The other 2 lanes going in the opposite direction do not have to stop!

Well, their insurance just went up. Not to mention the points on their license.

Yes, the only time you don’t have to stop if it’s divided by 4 foot or more of grass

school buses should be prohibited from stopping and releasing children on multi lane roads and never on a highway punishment should be a minimum of two years in prison for child endangerment
