we also ate fruits/veggies straight from the garden, drank from the hose in the backyard, rode in the back of pickup trucks and played outside all day and into the evening...and somehow survived childhood 🤔

Another rule yes ma’am, no ma’am , yes sir, no sir. If this wasn’t trouble. When you don’t like the food that was cooked you ate all of it. If you try trash it you got the belt it didn’t kill us or up to bed Hungry. I thought mom said I give you a ring later I was so stupid I got the ring alright the belt Lol!

I broke the no stove rule to make myself a cup of hot tea. Gave myself a steam burn from hell but couldn't say a thing because I knew the ass whooping would hurt worse! The tea was good, though...nice and sugary!😁

I know the drill. How about making sure school homework was done Monday through Friday evenings, because weekends was your other homework days. Washing dishes and clothing. Cleaning the house which included baseboards. We had to take turns ironing for the whole family. What we didn’t understand is why we had to iron our father’s boxer shorts and he worked construction.

We were called latch keys kids. We'd get home from school . Make sure all siblings get home. Lock the door. Clean the house. Do homework. IN that order.

We had all the rules...but, don't band can't figure out the abbreviations...we were never threatened with perverse words...it wasn't necessary...we knew that death was implied if all instructions were not followed to the "t" so after the instructions nothing else needed to be said...
