Double Homicide Investigation Woman and Child Found Shot in Walnut Park West 5700 block of Floy, Walnut Park West Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on December 21, 2025, in which a woman and a 9-year-old child were found shot inside a burning home. At approximately 12:10 a.m., officers responded to a report of a house fire in the 5700 block of Floy. After the fire was extinguished by the Fire Department, the woman and child were discovered with gunshot wounds. The 9-year-old girl, identified as #PaigeBuckner of St. Louis City, was pronounced dead at the hospital on December 21, 2025. The 45-year-old woman, identified as #LatashaBrown, died due to her injuries on December 22, 2025. During VOP visit to the home we noticed several surrounding homes had doorbell cameras. The location of the house is approximately 100 feet away from the intersection at W. Florissant an area that experiences significant traffic and pedestrian activity due to nearby businesses. Opinion Piece This heinous crime, where not only a mother’s life was taken but also a 9-year-old girl was shot and robbed of her future, should be absolutely unacceptable. As a community, we can’t keep accepting this kind of violence as normal. Saying “that’s messed up” or “RIP to that lady and that baby” and then just moving on with our day isn't enough. We can't dictate what those with platforms should do with their voices, but we sure can make ours heard, with great power comes great
