Maybe the man and woman were going to break up, and his lawyer suggested getting a DNA test for the girl. He would have to pay for child support and additional expenses at least until she turns 18.

Poorly written article, not enough information. It could have stated the age of the child. Old boy probably had doubts about the child all along. The DNA confirmed his suspicions. Could it have been uncharacteristic features in the child? Maybe it was the history he had with the woman. Whatever it was, he won’t having it… I’m just saying.
