it is a protective instinct. women do this in case the mother isn't available, they can come in and help the child. we are meant for being together.

I was at a Waterpark in the pool when this young girl was having trouble reaching the side, she was calling mom, mom over and over so I reached out and pulled her over thats when her mother caught her, she only had one arm...💕🌸glad I was there to help💕🌸

This is instinctual of the human race. The instinct to handle problems at the lowest level possible. The child, be it boy or girl, feels they've exhausted all options and is calling for the next higher up. When the child calls for dad though, the mother will still look but should do so to assess her role in shielding or removing the child from father's path to neutralize threat....or...."threat" i.e. "monster in closet" or the in real life possibility of a charging grizzly bear that has to die now because Dad has to ONE PUNCH MAN this overgrown Teddy Rupskin into orbit for even looking at my family!!! hope that was fun to read y'all! 😆😆😆😆
Of course, a man doesn’t respond to the call of mom because in this civilization mom references to females not males. Mothers and females are caretakers of not just a child, but of all children, this is why if and when any child calls out to their mother, all females will respond.
