You can see the Sun and Moon at the same time because the Moon orbits Earth about once a month, meaning it's in different positions relative to the Sun and Earth throughout the day, sometimes appearing in the daytime sky as Earth rotates.

don't quote me in this, but I'm pretty sure that's because of the angle to the sun, the light is reflecting off earth and making it appear as a full moon.
