A regular C clamp on the vertical 2x4's would be easier and not damage the horizontal top plates.

so now what about the giant holes the "puller" just put in the top??

seems like a bunch of you haven't bought any 2x4's in bulk lately. have you seen how straight they are?? most of those boards bought in bulk are crooked as hell

That’s why you put a top plate on it. You don’t need to do that. #WastedStep

the damage to the top plates will weaken the integrity more and more over time! use clamps or ratchet straps intstead👍🏾💕

Bro... Not only could you do your job with more care, precisely measuring and cutting properly... You could use a $19.⁹⁵ QuickGrip Clamp, or Some Finger clamps to close the Gap..

total waste of time and money 1st of all, the studs should have been nailed together, and the top plate should have already been attached before raising the wall.

avator

poor workmanship can't be cured by Micky Mouse. using warped boards to start with doesn't help and if the vertical board was nailed to the 1st board in the 1st place by a good builder this wouldn't have happened.

I've never seen one of these and I've worked on a lot of houses. Not framing, but I thought I was familiar with most of the tools onsight.

avator

you know if you nail those end studs in about an eighth inch you can get the top plate to stay together then you just tap them together

nice work!! Just a suggestion but have you tried a block on either side so you can get the ratchet up off your plate and to prevent damage to your top plate...I would use screws to attach the block so it would make easy removal.

you could break the wall on a single stud still pull it together like that don't know why you wouldn't have shot it on the ground together since it doesn't already have plywood on it. gain Nails don't hold unless you have a thousand pound roller to smash them in look up the code book. you don't have to hammer it any of that put dents in your wood and then guess what you're supposed to put on top a top plate that laps that joint
