That seems like one of the more dangerous weapons to deploy. Can anyone that was in the military tell me which weapons are even more dangerous to deploy
When you're fighting in a war you have to do what you have to do. Been there done that in Vietnam 1966-1967 and 1968-1969. Saw and did more than I wanted. I'm now retired on 100% disability from PTSD.
How far can you shoot those shells and how accurate can you get by aiming it? I've always wondered because of all the variables including the movement of the tube everytime it's fired. π€π€·ββοΈ
He's the gripper. ππ
all fun and games until the mortar just flops out and lands on his head.
Setting the baseplate of the 60mm. I was an 0341 (Mortarman) in the Marine Corps. Mostly operated the 81mm version of this weapon. Took it into war during Desert Storm WPNS Co. 1/8, 2nd Mar Div. Semper Fi. OOO-RAH.
MORTARS UP !!!!!!!. 0341 I've fired this gun and took an 81mm into war.
Awesome ππΌ
he is the gripper holding down the weapon to keep it on mark and from falling over it's a power weapon that does move a lot
I got one at Walmart in the outdoors camping section
They are firing to sink the base plate on 60mm mortor. He is holding the legs to help in that process.
trust Jesus
he is holding it from falling over
He aint sleepin ! Dah
You stand on the baseplate A.G.π
And if you have a misfire and the motar pops out of the barrel and lands on the young soldier, you better be praying that you don't have it go off.
This weeds out stupid pronouns
eh? what?
Hope the dude anchoring the mortar has got his ear plugs in properly!
I know, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, but don't they have a better way to protect themselves? Hearing damage and also that percussion in your head.Gotta do something, right? Anyway, I love those guys that kick a** for me and you and everybody elseπ
When in doubt call in an airstrike π494th π
Ear protection please. Thank you for your service π«‘π«‘ππͺπΊπ²
like to own one legally of course.....πππππ
he's holding down the front legs so they can be more persised in there actions
its a mortar 40 mm I can't remember the size had a massive hart attack and stroke
0341, 1980-1984. Fox 2/7 Wpns plt. Semper Fi
Most of you commenting are serviceman or veterans - thank you all for your service.
So he positions himself to hold down the legs of the mortar stand when the round is fired. Does he aim it also?
where's the "hang one" "drop" and " down range"? Guess 56 years they are teaching these new meats not like we did back in the day.
That's so that they can seat the base plate. the base plate is not solidly in the ground until the first round is fired out of it
damn I want one of them
are you nuts???
11 Charlies aren't usually too bright. But they are fun!
Hearing loss is deemed not service connected
My stepdad was a mortar man in WW2 in Europe.
technology was better than that.nobody should be a tripod in that position..money that was wasted. improper field testing b4 sending to our guys to defend us
Why are the sites on the mortar
2 more time .you kill your soldiers..don't do hate that. because soldiers new more repetition ππ€
Anchor !ππ
he's stabilizing the front legs!!!
Itβs not an 81mmβ¦itβs a 60mm. This move is called βseating the baseplateβ¦Semper Fi
they must be national guard lol
Looks like a 60 mortar which can be sling fired or ground mounted and in this case it looks like the crew needed to hold the pod down to stabilize the weapon. The soldier dropping the round needs to work on correct process.
"No evidence your hearing loss is not service connected. CLAIM DENIED".
is that an 81 mm mortar?
I was a mortarman o'er in 'Nam. Proficient in 60mm 81mm & 4.2 but nvr.saw this thing in 60s,70s.Nobody had 2 steady tripods like this !!!πππ
To set the base once it set it wonβt fall over
