Maybe then what we need to do is to invest more money into the immigration courts instead of ICE/CBP. Many of the people being deported are *trying* to do it the right way. They made an appointment to appear at a checkpoint to apply for asylum, and were given a court date. Then they go to their appointment and they’re deported! Also, there are countries that are so violent our government has said that if you are from that country & you come here because you are fleeing violence, we won’t deport you. For 25 years, every President renewed deportation protection for people fleeing violence in Venezuela (including Trump in his 1st term). There are people who came here as children, went to college, started families, etc. THREE generations of their family are here. Then Trump gets into office, cancels that protection from deportation, rounds them up & sends them to a concentration camp in El Salvador. It’s completely inhumane.
Yes and a lot of those people who are trying to do it the right way are being blocked and picked up even though they have been doing what are laws were requiring of them but some where someone said who cares, so those trying to do it the right way are getting “caught “ because that’s what ICE is saying about them but they were doing it legally!!
