that's a handsome beagle, but my chunky dude makes yours look anorexic! these are food -only motivated dogs. he's asking you why you are trying to "train" him without any treats. he will be the most stubborn dog in the world until you give him treats. train him with food in your hand and he will become a mushball and learn to do anything you ask of him. mine is trained with hand signals and voice commands---but still the most stubborn, bossy dog I've ever met....lovable and loyal til the end of days however and will always be good around kids so socialize them while they're still young. mine thinks every stroller & every child is his, loves the school bus stop
