Not only did black women cook & served them food, but nurse their babies. That’s pretty crazy.

My Aunt Louies worked as a domestic house keeper all of her teenage & adult life for a very wealthy family of 4 husband Wife 2 kids far out in the County while she did do all of the cooking, cleaning & washing of clothes in addition to raising the 2 children that family gave my Aunt their old car every 3 years which wasn't ragged out or anything the neighbor was non other than Lou Brock the St.Louis Cardinal great but there is something to be said about that work you see those kids my Aunt raised I was told by the both of them my Aunt helped them with projects homework getting ready for their first prom night even teaching Jim how to slow dance because he didn't know how & was embarrassed so my Aunt taught him to dance Jim shared that story with me & when my Aunt passed away both kids had finished college by this time bot kids came to my Auntie funeral & both now adults told how they loved my Aunt through tears & pain

my grandmother (Mary Louise Nance) raised two white children of a wealthy doctor and wife. They on the other hand all of them showed my grandmother much love themselves. The entire family treated my grandmother very well. Doctor Owens even bonded me out of jail once as a unruly teenager. The times had changed this white Alabama family yet society as a whole had not. They begged my grandmother not to retire even with doing no work just live with them but she didn't. When my sweet granny passed away the sweet Owens cried with us helped in every way they were able. God is. (reaLTalk)

So here I go..I am a white women 60yo. Im not posting to defend either side of racial issues but I will say our ancestors only passed on what they were taught and raised to be their truth..Times have certainly changed in 60yrs but some people are so stuck in old injustices that they can't see what we all have now..is it great no, is it improved yes, will it continue to improve im not sure..certainly not if people continue to dwell in the past..We are all civilized humans with a capacity for love, caring, kindness and forgiveness, regardless of our skin color, religion or political preference..But things will not continue to change if we can't change as individuals and learn to be better people as a whole..And no my family did not have money or slaves etc, I grew up on an Indian reservation with totally different morals and values and was never taught to hate or judge people..This world needs peace but if we dont have peace in ourselves and in our hearts it will never change..πŸ’•

Like skin color makes a person more or less of a human, it’s ignorant hypocrisy to not accept a person when they are a decent human being! I don’t care what color anyone is, I care about people being kind, honest, and respectful of others!

a black woman a saint really helped me when I was young. my mom was gone a lot and Essie Mae would take me to her place which was a juke joint to stay. listening to the men talk I learned a few things one of the things that I remember is that when Martin Luther King was flying into a nearby larger town they did not want to go. these were simple people and didn't like that he was flying in and being picked up by limousine, this was when Martin Luther King was just starting out. we lived in a small rural southern town in the 50s and these men did not make any kind of real money. the black community was first recognized when the schools became desegregated and the kids played football and basketball for the school. high school sports were a sense of pride for the town.
