as a tech I would tell him I have to change the linens. and no is not an option also I would tell him I have to do orthostatic blood pressures which require her to be in the bed. this always works. I would then give Dad the hospital Tumblr and tell him to go ask the nurse for ice because I need it for the "next test" or if they are medical savvy I would tell them. hey, there's a bunch of visitors at the front desk but we only allow 2 they are asking for the dad so it must be your family or friends. can you go talk to them? once Dad is gone I would ask Mom. hey do you want him back tonight or do you just want a break because I think you need one and we can make it happen. I'm not overstepping. I'm protecting the patient and l question her safely to know who else I need to get involved. on my way out I may ask her. do you want this for the rest of your life and that's not medical advice, medical intervention or overstepping it's person to person woman to woman
