How come it’s not 50-50 50% white 50% blacks and Hispanics that’s because predominantly white men joined the military and serve their country and an honorable fashion like my son-in-law who is marine and my uncle who is also a marine served in two wars, 35 years apart, one in Korea, one Iraq and in Afghanistan, he survived the helicopter crash. It IS the greatest privilege to serve in the US armed forces across the board. Many yoing men and women follow their parents and Grandparents into serving. We are not to far removed from the Greatest Generation sitting at the dinner table. After 9/11 a lot if people signed up because of One attack on American soil.

whites and blacks are both overrepresented in the military. prior to the civil rights movement, that wasn't true. The revolution, civil war, both worlds wars, Korea, every conflict that occurred prior to Vietnam was fought by a very white military, and had overwhelmingly white casualties. vietnam and after, the population of the military, and the demographics of casualties, generally align with overall demographics. vietnam and since, those conflicts had far less casualties than prior wars, and that number is diminutive, we statistically lose less each time, so the overall historical total has always and will always show an overrepresented white toll. you could say that the civil rights movement gave blacks the right to die in combat, and frankly, that does reflect equality and while not a positive stat, it's still arguably a good thing. it's progress. it very clearly shows a drastic improvement in equal opportunity by the civil rights movement...
