No double dribble. As soon as the ball touched the defender it ended his possession. This wouldn't have been a foul when I played. If the defender was paying attention he should have caught the ball and driven it down the lane for 2 easy points, but he wasn't paying attention.

Rules-wise, the kid didn't do anything wrong. Once he caught the ball after bouncing it off the kid, he kept his pivot foot until he started dribbling. Bouncing the ball off the defender is also legal. He could have been called for unsportsman-like conduct for throwing it too hard, but that's at the refs' discretion. And, yes, if a foul is not called, you definitely keep playing, so the person yelling "GO!" is correct.
