it's not Eddie Murphy's joke, Eddie was doing a spoof on an old time Borscht Belt type of Jewish humor. Eddie was in character, made up to be an old Jewish man, doing what he heard others he admired do. and he killed at it, but you could imagine Henny Youngman, Myron Cohen, or George Jesse doing this joke somewhere in the Catskills in the 1950s or 1960s.
