most likely the bore evacuator was plugged which didn't allow the gases to go into the bore evacuator, or the main gun had not been replaced after firing a few hundred rounds, this tank is not a T-72 this is a T-54/55 identied by the bore evauator at the end of the gun tube, also look at the track it has no support rollers, this is called a christy suspension and no sponson boxes mounted on the side of the turret
