The individual who died was identified as Jeffrey Scott West, 68. He had shot another man, Kyle Spitze, in the ear during an argument at a home on Quarry Hollow Road. Spitze survived the shooting, which he recorded on his cellphone in a video that later went viral. When Blount County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene, West barricaded himself inside the residence and refused to surrender. After attempts by the Crisis Negotiations and SWAT teams to talk him out failed, deputies deployed a K-9 unit. The K-9 officer found West dead inside the home from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. 😳
