I don't think that's what you do but yeah I guess you could, just can't close it all the way. also they make cheap ass holders some don't even need screws or make holes and just set it up underneath one of the cabinets. I got one my dad installed in my brother's apt (now our apt I guess). also I recommend buying a 5 gallon water jug and you don't need a fancy pump just get one from Lowes or something for like 15 to 20 bucks and just fill the jugs at some of these water stations and it's like 2.30 for 5 gallons of purified osmosis water or some have alkaline water which is like 3.05 for 5 gallons. not as much plastic waste and 5 gallons for 3 bucks or less instead of 8 or 10 bucks or more just can't beat it. and way better than sink water
