Wow! A lot of junk in that cart! We aren’t the perfect eaters either, but when I’m on a budget, I try to be sure everyone has meat and veggies 1st-a bag of apples is cheaper than chips, more eggs and less pancakes-the protein will keep you full longer. We buy tons of cheese at Aldi it’s so inexpensive there and have cheese, prunes, and nuts for snacks or pimento cheese on crackers or celery. My mom fed all of us good but cheap!

Being proud of being on government assistance with 10 kids is wild. My grandparents raised 10 kids on a farm. At 6 years old, they started working in the field chopping and picking cotton. They got one pair of shoes a year, and if the sole wore out, Grandpa cut an old tire and made a new one. They wore overalls until they turned 15 years old and got khakis or jeans. They got zero assistance from the government, living in a two room house, not two bedroom, two rooms. All of their children graduated high school and went on to be successful. I would love to see these 10 kids in 20 years.
