Bless the Doggies heart. Maybe when she gets home they could play more together and let her talk to the doggie and explain that she will be home and when she does they can play more together. Do this every day, and when she is going every where. I started doing this and they do understand when I am going any where. I also tell them where I am going. I won't tell them what time I will be home, unless I know for Sure. But they are always happy when I return. Who knows Try it, it may work Good Luck.
