I was afraid for my daughter to go to Brazil with her college roommate cuz afraid of all this ICE business. She’s african American but speaks spanish. I imagined them walking through the airport speaking spanish and get stopped by ICE. So needless to say I didn’t let her go. It’s a shame we live in a country where fear influences your choices.
we are colored people, wether you are African American or Latino, we are still afro people, we are the colored people, Latinos are a branch of black civilizations as well so we are a part of you guys just like African Americans are a part of Latino ppl as well so of course they are going to check all colored people for their identity, I have many afro Latinos in my family and I as well consider myself African American as well as afro Latino because we fight the same struggle. we come from each other alike and have a lot of the same history just different groups of tribes but we are the same , this is why we need to stand united against the white man and women because they do not belong in our tribes

I don't know if anyone can remember, depending on age. 50s - 80s if you had to fill out certain documents and it ask you to check the box for ethnicity. The choices were : African American, White, Hispanic or other. Now most documents read, White, Hispanic or Black- Non Hispanic. So, I can completely understand why black people may say African American, because on most official documents those were the only boxes that you could choose from. It never simply said black. And while some home born Africans may dislike Black Americans to claim an African American heritage, in most blood lines we have African American descendants and even white in our DNA, because alot of black slaves were raped by thier plantation owners mixing the blood lines. So you could literally be black, white with French decent. IF you want to claim your heritage as an African American you should be able to do so🤔
