We did this for my nephew at his basic training graduation. bitter sweet there were a few young men that didn't have family and they were left standing for a while. We tapped them out and spent the family day with them.

This is not a soldier coming home. This is BCT graduation (Basic Combat Training or some people call it Basic Training). My son is a Drill Sergeant for the Army. All the soldiers here just finished graduation. At the conclusion of graduation ceremony, the soldiers stay on the field at attention. The families that are in the stands, watching, get to go onto the field to find their loved one. The soldiers cannot move until they are “tapped” by a member of their family.
