Those of you making your “dangerous” comments need to stay away from anything mechanical. These tools are as “dangerous” as you make them. I know, I’ve still got all my fingers.

Why would you use a bow saw on a large piece of wood 😳
People don't understand how to run chainsaws to start with. A bow saw is safer than a saw with a bat when used correctly. Priority one is for a bow saw to have the fork and guards on the top and bottom. the bottom is more important than the top. As you can see the saw doesn't have the bottom guard. So this is a very dangerous saw. A bow saw is used after the tree is on the ground. I've never had a bow kick back like a bar saw. that's what the top guard is for. the bottom guard is there to keep you from cutting your like as you move or walk around..It's easy to let the saw down before it goes back to idle. With a bow you are always in position to see what you doing and it's not as tiring to run.
I remember my grandad and dad using one of these when Iwas 6 years old in the mid 60s. I believe it was a mac.555 not sure but I remember it being yellow .Haven't seen one since.

The bow saw is also called a limbing saw. the bow is tapered thinner towards the inner part of the bow. This prevents the bar/bow from being punched by the limb moving in the wrong direction. The wood will close unto itself before pinching the bow so you can push the chin through the cut.
Or you could accept progress, and use the modern chainsaw. But it’s your life bud.
