That sound is the governer kicking in. That happens when you reach 130 mph. Some vehicles do it at different speads but i know Chevy pickups are set at 130.

Just let off a bit. That's the limiter.
I would do what we did in the army when the trucks all had governors set at 55. we disabled them so we could keep up with the cars on the autobahn in Germany. Being 3ard shop mechanics out was a simple job to our guys. Are trucks would go about 75 to 85. or faster coming down mountain roads.

is that the tallest gear there is or is there any more left? I know a friend got into an escape attempt on a back road and in all the excitement of the run and keeping in front of the cruiser when he came out of the "Fun" part he forgot he was running the curves and hilly road in third gear and still had two left to use, but just couldn't figure out why it was on the chip so hard and the "coyote" behind him was now almost beside him. That's when he noticed the glowing #3 on his dash, after the recovery he managed to get away for awhile but he was a ditz at the escape thing because he pulled into a used car lot in town and shut off the lights and ducked down. He was giving himself a pat on the back when he heard the siren pass, and was scared to death when the policeman tapped on his window and was laughing hard. He told my friend he did a good job getting away but next time, when he parks remember to take his foot off the brakes. 😆😆
The only reason the manufacturer puts in the rev limiter is so you don't outrun the cops or drive way over the limit. You have to have experience driving at high speeds ! If not you'll kill yourself and otherz trying to be A NASCAR driver on a residential street!

I wouldn't ask why he's doing that, but i'd ask, why in the hell in a pick up, I used to drive that way, all the time, why? hell if I know, never had an accident, which would had been the 1st and the last, then I sobered up, and forgot how to drive... but when I put the Devils 👿 juice on my veins, bad shit happens..

it's not on its last leg that's called a speed limiter set by the manufacturer of the vehicle the speedometer may say 120mph but it might only go 108mph before it shuts down... cutting fuel or cutting spark to limit the vehicle
