Let's review. The average cost of a slave in 1860 would have been $43,000 in today's currency. Add $390 per month on average for food and housing. The proclamation to free slaves gave no legal recourse or compensation to the owners for LEGALLY acquired property. If you truly want to consider "reparations" please research to find the family who you believe were your ancestors "owners" and discuss the compensation they're entitled to. You believe it's only fair to receive something from past inequality then it falls on you to make sure that justice is upheld. $390/per month for well over 150 years per direct descendant at $43,000 each should be given in restitution to the descendants that had their property stripped from them, yes? 5 generations at least since slavery was abolished, meaning $135,000.00 would be the minimum that each descendant of a slave owners family would be ENTITLED to from each person demanding reparations.
